The “Clochette Effect”: measuring to act better
At L’Effet Clochette, we believe that a sincere eco-design approach starts with a better understanding of our products. That’s why we carried out a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on three of our emblematic recycled-fabric items with Lucioles Conseil: the bread bag, the apron, and the cushion.
The LCA makes it possible to trace every stage of the product’s life cycle, from raw material production to end-of-life. We studied the manufacturing of the recycled textile, the making of the product, distribution, use, and finally its end-of-life treatment.
The results are especially encouraging:– 95% less CO₂ emissions for the bread bag,– 93% less for the apron,– 62% less for the cushion.
These figures show that choosing recycled fabrics significantly reduces environmental impact compared to the same items made from virgin materials.
Beyond the numbers, this approach gives us a deeper understanding of where we can improve: encouraging customers to return damaged items for repair…
It also pushes us toward a circular approach, by joining the eco-organizations Refashion and Ecomaison, which ensure responsible end-of-life management for textiles and decorative items.
This first step gives us a solid foundation to keep moving forward, always remembering that every design choice can make a difference.
